I've taken interest in a landmark on the pre-alpha map.

The bottom right corner of Brit is a squared thing with a circle in the ^^ middle with light radiating off it.
It looks like an old Moongate to me. I did some research and it looks as if its just like the jewelry shop on the map, they were going to add it but never got around to it, didn't have time, something like that.

"May 18
With boredom starting to set in, I decide to make sure I've seen everything on the map. Some of us notice that in the beta map of the city there is a little circle in the southeast, so we head off to explore. We find the area entirely fenced in, yet NPCs can walk through this fence. This remains a mystery until later - when we find out that the area was fenced in by the programmers because it was unfinished."
(he says beta map but clearly the information posted isn't beta, he must be referring to another phase of alpha?)

The staff was planning on something which was never added.

This link has information about early maps including pre-alpha.

"Not listed it also included the tower of the evil npc mage Myndon, and the godlands which were outside of the boundary."

Myndon lived in a tower, but thats not my concern. Where he is located in game works fine and I don't see any reason to change unless Drac feels the urge to.
The Godlands of course is just being on the other side of the boundary. So neither I think were intended for that "moongate" spot in south east Britain.
I think the reason I find little to nothing on that location is because nothing was ever added, but if Drac is interested in future events possibly add something there.

Example: A moongate to a tournament location, event dungeon, quest, even a whole other map if you wanted.

Maybe once launched occasionally host pre-alpha events and tournaments that are in a sense traditional and were held back then.

Example: The small dirt fenced off pen to the right in Lord British's castle is where many PVP Events were held, winners received gifts such at colored armor, special weapons, clothing, etc.

I just wanted to share this with everyone and also throw some ideas for future of events and etc.

Thanks again for reading!

The moongate like rocks are a addition of mine, they arent originaly in the prealpha map. However, that shining box on those map, actually represents something in the prealpha map. Not too sure what its was going to be, a shop maybe? But here is a few screenshots of it:

Ugly right? that explains the fence and hedges in south-east brit. They didnt want us to see that!

That shining box and the circular stones on First Dawn are 2 different things entirely.

I do like your idea about the events. Your right those fenced off areas held events. From what i know the events were just turn based 1v1 duels. Colored armor was usually rewarded to the winners.

Even though moongates were in the original Ultima series long before UO prealpha, i dont think ill add them. It strays a little to far from the bare-bone concept at this point.

Thanks Denaro!

I was aware that the stone circle was your addition, miscommunication there :P I have a hard time explaining certain details when typing.
How did you get this image? Max's emulator? On mine its just a bare spot.

This is directly from an the prealpha client and max's emulator.

There is some serious looping confusion going on here! lol
